Introducing ToldWire: Because we're busy working on stuff right now™

You may have heard about our latest pending software update. We float one of these every so often and never really get into details, so let's cut through it all and discuss a roadmap.
- Phase 1: ToldWire. This is totally a stopgap, and it just went live. Automatically imports potential trolling material from MacRumors and possibly (eventually) other sites. Most content on MacRumors' front page has high trolling potential, so aside from the clutter, hopefully you'll find this to be an interesting diversion while I work on phase 2..
- Phase 2: Other stuff. Such as it is today, I have a few important projects that are overdue for some really awesome and tolerant people. With the readership here being mostly a tech crowd (I'd assume), perhaps you can relate to the situation. Anyway, once everything in phase 2 is out the door, then I can start on phase 3..
- Phase 3: Editors. This is really long overdue, but the idea is that editors would be able to access the feedback queue and create posts or QuickTolds here in the blog. Users leaving feedback would be given a dropdown to specify whether they want their submission to go to editors or the admin. New blog entries would have to be activated by an admin. Hopefully this will keep things in good enough shape while I work on phase 4..
- Phase 4: Reinvent the boards. This is extremely overdue and extremely laborious. Which is fine, since by this point I'll probably have absolutely nothing else better to do. ;_; The current board system was literally an overnight hack and it's too inflexible to expand to the degree it deserves to be. (Again, being a tech crowd, I'm sure you've coded yourself into a corner at least once before.) It's one of those situations where you've got existing code, and you ask yourself, "do I just hack more stupid shit on top of this, or throw it all out and do it properly for once?" Well, it's getting thrown out, in a big way. I'm not adding multimedia, images, or any of that bullshit to the boards. Too much distraction, cost, and liability. But the timeframe on starting all of this is at least a month or two from now, so look forward to the thrilling details at some point. With some luck on our side, maybe it'll even beat Titan to release!
- Phase 5: ???
- Phase 6: PROFIT! lol money pit
#1 and #3 are pretty much stopgaps leading up to #4, but the idea is to keep things moving with content and new things so we don't drop off the radar in the interim.
tl;dr: Fun things happening!
Comments, flames, and outright trolls are welcome, as always. Ciao for now!~

Often the most elegant code comes from 'hacks on top of hacks'... but yes, sometimes you need to throw everything out. I know I rewrote my client's caching systems. Several times. |

Toldwire is a shitty stopgap. At least give me an option to remove it from the RSS. |
