New OS X update actually does something right: breaks Macs

Tip by Tep, Anonymous | Added 2009-05-14, 12:58 AM | 28 Replies

According to Apple (inventors of the Personal Computer, holders of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, and heirs to the Holy Rings of Betazed), the Mac is something that just works without crashes or headaches.

So imagine my surprise when Tep sent word that the new 10.5.7 update to the world's most advanced operating system has been fucking shit up, as evidenced by the multitude of told over on the Apple support boards. (Note: Apple frequently censors the support threads of customers who have problems, so we'll post screenshots once they start doing that.)

Anonymous also sent a link to a thread over on MacRumors where people are having all sorts of amusing problems with their flawless operating system.

Thanks, Apple. Your impeccable timing in dropping this killer update in sync with a major ad campaign touting the Mac's reliability is much appreciated.

Oh, and Mac users? You just got told. By Apple. Good luck e-mailing them for support.

lol, from macrumors:

>Apple certainly can't plan for every single user out there. It's up to the users to not install a bunch of crap that they don't need.

So Microsoft has to plan for every single user out there but Apple doesn't?

Typical Macfag double standard.

Microsoft would get a SHITSTORM if they broke business' computers, that's why they're very careful about updates.
Also... there's an innumerable amount of hardware they have to consider.

Apple has it easy since they're more consumer centric, and very little hardware to worry about... yet they still fuck things up and break compatibility more often.

Even though Apple develops the software and hand picks from a small pool of hardware, they can't plan for every single user? Even people with Macs from 08 and 09 are reporting problems. Exactly WHICH people were being considered in this update?

Furthermore, who the fuck decides against major updates? These are usually the updates that people are recommended to upgrade to. It's not like Apple was a third party developer here. Goddamn, you fags got told.
