RIM tells Apple off after Jobs trolls BlackBerry
Tip by Anonymous, zoidberg | Added 2010-07-17, 06:13 PM | 17 Replies
Apple's attempt to draw RIM into Apple's self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple's claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public's understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple's difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM's customers don't need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.

Finally. At least someone is standing up to Apple's misleading propaganda machine.

Apple doesn't fix iPhone 4 hardware defect
Tip by Anonymous, Ilsambärd | Added 2010-07-16, 07:09 PM | 9 Replies
Yeah, we didn't do a liveblog. No, we didn't forget. Did we really need to do one? Who didn't see where this was going to end up?
Ok, so long story short: Apple trolled the shit out of a bunch of smartphones, insisted there was no problem with the iPhone 4, yet still ended up giving away a bunch of rubber bands to fix the nonexistent issue.
But not permanently. The offer ends September 30th, which is likely when the last batch of the defective first version of the iPhone 4 will be sold.
Said Jobs, "I'm not sure what you're after here, would you rather that we were Korean companies rather than American companies?"
Can we have a poll on that, Steve? And can we choose which Korea?

iPhone 4 owner injured after device bursts into flames
Tip by Anonymous, Grimlok | Added 2010-07-11, 11:10 PM | 23 Replies
Apple's legendary quality control has reared its ugly head yet again, as a report has surfaced of an iPhone 4 catching on fire as its owner connected it to their computer.
Of course this isn't a new phenomenon, nor is it a distant memory. Apple products routinely spark, catch on fire, and explode, sometimes severely injuring their owners, as was the case with this iPhone 4.
Apple's P.R. department could try and deflect the issue, saying it's an one-off abnormality, or a problem with the USB port on the inferior PC the victim was using. It's more likely they'll just completely ignore it, opting instead to have their lawyers hide the potentially-widespread problem so even more customers will be injured.
Should they have seen it coming? Perhaps.
