The patent system in the US is horribly broken. Software should not be patentable at all, it just doesn't work. Ridiculous wars like this are par for the course, because EVERYONE infringes on somebody else's patents if they look hard enough. I think IBM still have a patent on the only sensible / fast algorithm for drawing a straight line between two points. |
